When we design a control system we integrate everything.  From the components in the control panels, to the devices they control in the field.  All our designs include cross referencing of all components, with device identifiers and mounting locations.  On top of that, all components will be identified with the manufacturer part number.
The more information on the drawings the easier it is, for assembly, maintenance and service.
